Spoiler Guard for YouTube consists of a browser extension and a sharing site to protect your viewing experience from spoilers. This page details how data is handled.

Extension Data Processing

The extension reads comment/chat replay texts on YouTube pages inside your browser to match them against community lists or your personal rules. This process is used strictly for blurring or hiding potential spoilers.

Data Transmission

The extension never automatically uploads comment content, chat replay logs, personal block rules, or list candidates to developers' servers. It fetches community-shared blocklists from spoiler-guard.vercel.app via HTTPS, but only downloads publicly available static JSON data.

Local Storage

The extension stores block settings, presentation styles, personal block rules, and curation candidates inside local extension storage (Chrome Storage). You can clear this data at any time by uninstalling the extension or clearing extension data.

Shared Information

If you save candidate JSON lists and explicitly submit them to help create community lists, we may review these files to verify block reasons. Publicly shared blocklists do not contain commenter names, comment text, or user IDs. They use minimal matching keys like hash IDs or display timings.

Website Data

This website is hosted on Vercel. To ensure stable operations and analytics, request metadata (time of access, browser agent, region) may be recorded by Vercel logs.

Excluded Uses

We do not use collected or stored information for advertising, user tracking, selling to third parties, or identifying YouTube accounts.

Third Parties

We use Vercel for website hosting and analytics, and GitHub links for source code. Using these services applies their respective privacy policies.
